Reiki Master/Teacher Degree Course Outline.

SHINPIDEN

"What is the greatest thing a teacher can teach? This is what you must think about."
"What is the greatest thing a student can learn? This is what you must think about." Kensho Furuya

Those who wish to teach Usui Reiki Ryoho undertake Shinpiden training. A minimum of one year of Okuden level experience is required before completing this level. A personal programme of theory, teaching observation, teaching practice and assessment will be planned and agreed with each candidate prior to commencing the teaching path. There are six stages to attain the appropriate development of the skills required to teach at Master level. Shinpiden has no rigid time limit but generally students complete within one year. However, each student, as an individual with their own needs and constraints, can be given whatever time they require to learn the theory and to acquire the skills to teach Usui Reiki Ryoho at all three levels. This is obviously dependent upon the student maintaining appropriate contact with their Reiki Master teacher so that support can be made available if required.

Attunements

The Reiki attunement is a sacred spiritual initiation that connects the initiate with higher levels of consciousness and an unlimited source of healing energy. It heals and conditions the crown, heart, and palm chakras for their use in channelling Reiki and makes other adjustments in the students’ energy system necessary on an individual basis. Reiki is a gift which comes directly from the highest spiritual source and as such should be treated with the greatest respect. It is unique in that there are no requirements of spiritual purification necessary in order for it to work and in order for a person to receive the attunements. This includes the Reiki III attunement wherein one can go on to become a Reiki Master / Teacher. Therefore the term "Master" in connection with Reiki is a special one and does not carry with it the same meaning as a spiritual master who is free of all karma, completely purified and enlightened. In fact, as stated earlier, the Japanese word for this level is Shinpiden which means mystery teaching. Anyone, regardless of the degree of their spiritual development, can receive the ability to pass on Reiki to others. Because of this, the level of spiritual development may vary from student to student, but all have the ability to heal. Therefore, all Reiki Masters/Teachers are equal in that they all have the ability to pass on Reiki to others. However, their ability as teachers and their understanding of Reiki does vary and is determined mainly by the standards of the individual teacher or school where they have studied, along with personally developed skills and experience. . . . . . .

Teaching Reiki

Teaching Reiki classes can be very rewarding. Watching your students receive the ability to give Reiki for the first time can fill your heart with joy. Seeing their surprise and delight at the new energy they are experiencing, and then having them follow your guidance as they learn to give Reiki treatments to themselves and others is a meaningful experience. The advanced classes are even more fulfilling as students will now have experience with Reiki and be excited about learning more or becoming Reiki Masters themselves. The rewards that come from teaching Reiki far out weigh the effort necessary to prepare or the responsibilities that are required to do it well. Learning new skills and helping others are important parts of personal growth. By deciding to become a teaching Reiki Master and accepting this as an important part of your spiritual path, you will be propelled more quickly on your journey and experience greater fulfilment. Developing the skills necessary and working with your students will expand your comfort zone and enhance your self-worth. The appreciation and love you and your students develop for each other can affect you deeply and create memories and friendships that last a lifetime.

Preparation for your Reiki attunements

You have identified that Reiki, including its principles, is something that you wish to embrace in your life and are prepared to make this comittment as a Reiki Master to bring Reiki and its principles into your every day life. I always ask my students to prepare themselves to receive this wonderful gift in the most appropriate ways they can and in doing so, you will have a wonderful experience over the one/ two days of your initiation process.

During the week prior to your initiation please get as much quality sleep and rest as you can. Avoid alcohol and red meat as alcohol affects your brain and your body systems causing de-hydration and red meat is very difficult to digest and can clog up and slow down the energy in your stomach and abdominal areas.

The night before your first attunement bath using Epsom salts (1 cup to a full bath of water) and make sure that your whole body is covered including your head which you should put under the water. This cleanses your energy centres and prepares them to receive new, vibrant energy. You will need to repeat this on the second night when your attunements have been completed. This will again clear off any negative energy and cleanse your aura.

Please drink plenty of water during the week – 2 litres per day- as this will ensure that you are adequately hydrated. Take water with you over the two days of the initiation to make sure your levels are maintained.

Please no recreational drugs during the week. I would ask that you let your Reiki Master know if you use drugs on a regular basis as this is likely to interfere with the Reiki energy you intend to channel. Prescription medicines should, of course, be continued as instructed by your GP.
