Self Shiatsu
Rub Hands.
Massage forehead, working in strips.
Squeeze eyebrows.
Work points on inside and outside of eyebrow.
Work round eye socket. Smooth over eyelid. Rest palms on eyelid.
Clear sinuses (pull hands down sides of nose while breathing in sharply).
Work points at base of nose by rubbing on either side and in the middle of base of nose.
Massage gums, top and bottom.
Work under chin with thumbs.
Flick and rotate ears.
Massage scalp. Pound top of head in two pairs of lines (1”and 3” apart).
Massage back of neck.
Work under occipital ridge with thumbs, starting on outside and working in towards the middle.
Stretch the neck, forwards and to either side.
Massage the shoulders, including point on top of shoulders (contra-indicated in pregnancy).
Pound the arms in three pairs of lines, going towards the hand on the inside and away from hand on outside.
Work point in centre of hand, at apex of triangle between thumb and index finger (contra-indicated in pregnancy), on little fingers side of wrist between wrist creases and point in centre of wrist, between tendons, three fingers up from wrist crease.
These are for fatigue, general vitality, insomnia and sickness respectively.
Pound down the back. Rub kidneys and sacrum.
Pound down the legs in three pairs of lines (front, sides and back). Go down on outside of legs and up on inside.
Rotate foot. Work the sole with thumbs. Work between tendons on top of foot.
Pound the sole. Rub ankle. Smooth off the foot. Massage the abdomen in a circle centred at naval. Press in on out breath as you bend forward. Work up on your right, down on your left.
