Reiki ll Degree Course Outline.
Reiki II teaches the
student advanced techniques involving the use of symbols. It
requires an undertaking from the student to use Reiki on a
regular basis for themselves and others. Reiki II involves
receiving special instruction with regard to further Reiki
healing methods and particularly, that of absent or distant
healing. This is very different from the hands on approach of
Reiki I and it has obvious practical benefits, allowing the
student a much greater array of applications for Reiki healing
energy. Reiki II is designed to enable students to become
Reiki practitioners ( should they so choose) and it also
places responsibility on the student healer as a practitioner.
The second degree involves the student receiving:

Further attunement
· Reiki symbols
· Absent healing
techniques
Student requirements:
Students are
expected to have successfully completed a Reiki I course and
present their certificate for validation. For your comfort
students are advised to wear loose, comfortable clothing. It
is recommended that students have a certificate in First Aid,
have some counselling experience and have a good knowledge of
Anatomy and Physiology.
The Reiki II course is run over
one or two days to suit the student. Lunch is provided and is
included in the course fees.
A 25% deposit must be paid on
confirmation of course date. Payment of any remaining fees
should be at the beginning of the day unless a previous
agreement has been made with the Reiki Master.
Course
completion:
A comprehensive handbook will be provided to
all students on conclusion of the course. After the course has
ended ongoing support is available to the students at agreed
times, if required.
The Reiki II certificate will be
awarded to the student on successful completion of the
following:
· Arrange to give and receive four full hands
on treatments, each to include a mental and emotional healing
· Each day for thirty days send an absent healing of at
least 20 minutes. Fifteen of these healings should be to
yourself, either for physical problems or for problems, events
or situations in your life past, present or future. At least
four of the remaining fifteen should be to other Reiki II
healers. These should be given at pre-arranged times to enable
specific feedback to be given.
· The student should
maintain a personal portfolio during this time to record all
aspects of their Reiki healing work
· After thirty-forty
days when these requirements have been met , the student may
receive their certificate upon contacting their Reiki Master
to arrange a feedback session and to examine/discuss their
portfolio (if the student chooses) |

Preparation for your Reiki
attunements
You have identified that Reiki, including its principles,
is something that you wish to embrace in your life and have chosen
me as your Reiki Master. I always ask my students to prepare
themselves to receive this wonderful gift in the most appropriate
ways they can and in doing so, you will have a wonderful experience
over the one/ two days of your initiation process.
During the
week prior to your initiation please get as much quality sleep and
rest as you can. Avoid alcohol and red meat as alcohol affects your
brain and your body systems causing de-hydration and red meat is
very difficult to digest and can clog up and slow down the energy in
your stomach and abdominal areas.
The night before your first
attunement please bath using Epsom salts (1 cup to a full bath of
water) and make sure that your whole body is covered including your
head which you should put under the water. This cleanses your energy
centres and prepares them to receive new, vibrant energy. You will
need to repeat this on the second night when your attunements have
been completed. This will again clear off any negative energy and
cleanse your aura.
Please drink plenty of water during the week
2 litres per day- as this will ensure that you are adequately
hydrated. Bring water with you over the two days of the initiation
to make sure your levels are maintained.
Please no recreational
drugs during the week. I would ask that you let me know if you use
drugs on a regular basis as this is likely to interfere with the
Reiki energy you intend to channel. Prescription medicines should,
of course, be continued as instructed by your GP.
Questions to
ask a Reiki Master about Reiki Training (My answers are included)
"There are many people teaching Reiki classes now. Some are
highly qualified and may be just the right teacher for you and
others may not have the right energy for your needs. So, the
question is often asked about how to choose a Reiki teacher that is
right for you. Here is a list of questions to ask any Reiki master
who you are thinking about taking a class from."
How long have
you been working with Reiki? What training have you had?
I began
my training in Reiki November 1996. I completed training through
Second Degree with Lyn Salter and began an informal apprenticeship
with her in the master degree.
How often do you teach?
As
the owner, director and teacher of the Healing Hands School of
Personal Development, I currently aim to teach, on an individual
basis, both a First and a Second Degree Reiki class once a month.
Occasionally, I am asked to teach extra individual classes.
How do you personally use Reiki?
I use Reiki in my daily life,
self treating, as well as offering Reiki treatments to my family and
friends.
What is your lineage?
My original lineage to
Reiki is:
Usui/Hayashi/Takata/MacFadyen/Himani/Tanmaya/Hawkridge/Salter
Will this training initiate me into, or progress me within the
Usui lineage?
Most definitely!
What qualifications are
required to take Reiki Training?
The only qualifications for
taking the First Degree of Reiki (Shoden) is a desire to learn and a
commitment to practice and regularly treat yourself. No prior
training in healing or human anatomy, physiology, etc. is necessary.
Anyone can learn Reiki by going to a certified Reiki Master Teacher
and taking their class.
What do you cover in your classes?
My classes are based on my own training with Lyn Salter and from
information I have gained either through reading the work of other
Reiki Masters/authors or by actual experience working with my many
students. This training is Usui Shiki Ryoho, or original 'Western
Reiki' as taught by the first Reiki Master Teacher in the West, Mrs.
Hawayo Takata.
Training is done in three levels, or degrees.
The First Degree (Shoden) includes two attunements to empower
the student in the use of Reiki. Students are taught how to
self-treat, as well as the hand positions and treatment protocol
created by Masters Usui and Hayashi for treating others. A history
of the system is offered, as well as discussion of ethical/touch
issues, hygiene and suggestions for setting up a safe healing space.
Hands-on practice time is included for self-treating as well as
treating myself.
In Second Degree Reiki (Okuden), the student
receives one more attunement, or empowerment, specifically
connecting them to the energy of the sacred Reiki symbols. Reiki
symbols are tools or keys that are used in Okuden to send Reiki long
distance and to offer healing to mental and emotional dis-ease,
situations and such. It is said that Okuden attunements and training
squares the amount of Reiki energy made available to the student.
It is my opinion that with each attunement to Reiki, at whatever
level, more energy is attained by the student, as well as with the
frequent use of Reiki in one's life through self-treating and
sharing Reiki with others. Okuden training teaches the student the
use of the three sacred Reiki symbols, as well as the kotodama, or
mantra that is assigned to each one and how to use them in their
healing practice for a more centred and powerful practice.
How
many hours of class time is included?
First Degree class is
taught in two formats. A one day class runs from 0900hrs until
approximately 1800hrs. A two day class runs from 1030hrs until
1600hrs each day. A vegetarian lunch is served.
I highly
recommend that those interested in Reiki classes contact me
beforehand to discuss and schedule a full Reiki treatment. I feel
that it is very important that everyone understand what Reiki is,
what a treatment consists of and feels like so they will know just
what they are going to learn in class.
How much time is
instructional, and how much is hands-on practice?
In First
Degree class, approximately 50% of the time is instructional and the
rest hands-on practice on themselves and treating me.
In Second
Degree class, approximately 60% of the time is instructional,
learning to draw symbols and pronounce the kotodama and how to use
them. About 40% is practicing the techniques using the symbols.
What are the specific things I will be able to do after taking
the training?
Upon completion of First Degree class, the student
will be able to feel Reiki energy flowing from their hands. They
will have begun the process of feeling and recognizing energy
blockages in themselves and others. They will be able to perform a
full Reiki treatment on themselves, as well as others. They will
have learned how to create a safe healing space; how to share Reiki
with their pets.
Upon completion of the Second Degree class, the
student will have learned how to draw and use the Reiki symbols; how
to pronounce the kotodama (mantra) for each symbol; how to use each
symbol and for what purpose each one is assigned. They will be able
to send Reiki healing to others at a distance (anywhere in the
world); to other places, situations, past, present and future. The
student will have learned how to use the symbols along with
affirmations to affect healing on many mental and emotional levels.
This technique can be used on themselves or others, even as a long
distance treatment.
What are your fees, and will I receive a
certificate and a manual?
All fees are subject to change but
only upon notice.
Tuition for First Degree class is £150. This
is the standard fee for many teachers/Masters. A 60+ page manual is
given in the First Degree class, as well as a certificate of
attendance and, on completion, certification as a First Degree Reiki
Practitioner.
Tuition for Second Degree Class is £200. Tuition
fees vary widely from teacher to teacher. A manual and Second Degree
Certificate is awarded to all who complete this course, as well.
Can I take notes and tape record the class?
I have no
problem with a student taking notes, as long as it doesn't distract
them or keep them from fully focusing on the class content. Under
most circumstances, I would prefer not to have my classes taped due
to the general distraction it would cause. I am willing to make
allowances, however.
How many symbols will I learn?
In
First Degree, no symbols are taught.
In Second Degree, the
traditional three Reiki symbols are taught.
Will you openly
support me in being a successful Reiki practitioner or master?
Yes.
Do you have a positive respectful attitude toward
other Reiki practitioners and masters, regardless of lineage or
affiliation?
I believe that I do.
Over the years, there have
been many 'offshoots' developed of the original Reiki system.
Depending on the Reiki 'style' and teacher, training can consist of
many variables. Although Reiki is very easy to learn, especially the
First Degree, I do have some concern with those who offer training
over the Internet, sending the student a certificate and manual for
a price with no class time or personal contact. Perhaps it is true
that everyone finds the perfect situation that is right for them,
whatever their needs may be.
I know that I did and I have heard
many wonderful stories of synchronicity and 'magic' happening during
one's discovery of Reiki. I believe that class time is important and
that the relationship that develops between teacher and student is a
valuable asset to learning Reiki. However, it is just the
introduction, in a sense. The student is given the attunements,
which make that connection with Reiki and empowers them to use it.
It is ultimately up to the student to develop a 'practice', to use
Reiki in their lives to bring themselves into harmony and well being
and then to share it with others. The responsibility of the teacher
is to train, inspire, encourage and support the student throughout
their Reiki 'journey.'
To be an example. That doesn't
necessarily mean that a Reiki Master is perfect! They are human
beings just like you. They are on a journey as well, and a sign of a
sincere teacher is one who continues to grow, who continues to heal
themselves on all levels. In my opinion, that is a journey of a
lifetime! I want to add here that I have not included training to be
a Master/Teacher in this discussion. Reiki Master apprenticeship is
a very serious commitment that one makes! I have taken on
apprentices in the past and am willing to do so again. I love
teaching and feel deeply honoured to play a part in 'birthing'
another Reiki Master.
Originally, a student was offered master
training when their teacher felt that they were ready. The student
never asked. Perhaps this tradition was born of the Japanese
culture, nothing more. If a student of Reiki feels a deep desire to
teach, I will be very happy to discuss apprenticeship training with
them, whether they have trained with me previously or not.
Unlike many western Reiki teachers today, I demand a lengthy and
rigorous training period, including treating others, keeping
records, helping me with my classes each month, organizing their own
classes under my tutelage, etc. There is a minimum of a nine months
commitment. It is true, Reiki Master training can be attained with a
lot less commitment. However, in my humble opinion, you get out of
it what you put into it! Reiki training, the 'journey', is the
experience. I encourage everyone to take their time, to enjoy every
moment. There is no need to rush! I am willing and very happy to
discuss the possibilities with anyone who is serious and a lover of
Reiki!
